Propagation Method
Seed Information
Seed Collection
Seed is released at maturity, so fruits need to be monitored. Seed can be collected if it falls when branches are shaken, or capsules can be collected close to maturity and dried in a warm position until seed is released.
Seed Treatment Method
Smoke Smoke treatment improves germination in some species. Smokey products, e.g. smokey vermiculite, can be purchased and applied to the sown seed, or sown seeds can be treated directly with smoke from a source such as a drum with a fire and hose.
Seed Treatment Notes
Use fresh seed for best results. Seed viability may be lower in heavy crop years. Smoke treatment may improve results.
Germination Time
3-10 weeks
Cutting & Division Information
Propagation from soft tip cuttings is easiest. Grow from cuttings with a heel, from young plants only. Do not mist or the plant may rot.
