Fruit: Capsule – containing 4-6 more or less spherical seeds, 1.5mm in diameter. Seed changes from creamy-green to black when mature.

Heaths and open woodland, coastal near sea level, and inland to 1000m, in the north-east, Midlands and east coast.

General Notes

Likes a well-drained, sunny position where the stem can be supported by rocks or other plants. A cluster of edible white, watery tubers is found at the base of the lily stem, which Aboriginal people (Victoria) probably would have cooked before eating.

Propagate from seed. Can be difficult to collect sufficient seed as individuals do not produce large quantities of seed and are scattered in distribution.
