Form Description: Perennial herb with leaves arising from the base of the stem, interspersed with long silky hairs. Leaf stalks are short, wide, thick and toothed. Leaf blades are broadest above the middle, and sparingly covered with stiff, bristle-like hairs.

Flowers: Flower stems are downy, curve upwards, and are scarcely longer than the leaves. The flowers are born in short, narrow cylindrical spikes.

Fruit: Capsule – opens by a lid.
