Seed Information

Seed Collection

Collect seed heads into paper bags and allow to dry. Do not collect in wet weather. Rub seed heads on fine wire screens or break up by hand to extract seed. Sieve to clean.

Standard Scatter seed thinly on to damp potting mix. Hold seed in place by covering with more potting mix to approximately the depth of the seed size.

Seed Storage Life

Short

Seed Treatment Notes

Seed is usually quick to germinate. Surface sow or lightly cover. In nature seed germinates in autumn and plants develop quickly. They dry out and die with the onset of hot weather. Experimentation with sowing times could be useful.
