Very common and widespread especially in dry stony or rocky places, under light forest cover, coastal shrubberies, heaths and dunes from sea level to about 750m.

General Notes

Bird attracting. Flowers provide food and foliage provides refuge for insects. Resistant to Phytophthora cinnamomi. Used in traditional Palawa basket weaving. Also used in contemporary basket weaving.

Seed Collection

Good results from seed. Seed is shed soon after maturity. Collect stalks into paper bag. If necessary rub between hands or against wire screens to dislodge the seed.

Seed Treatment Method

Standard Scatter seed thinly on to damp potting mix. Hold seed in place by covering with more potting mix to approximately the depth of the seed size.
