Habitat Notes
Locally abundant in lowland rivers and highland lakes and are fully submerged for most of the year but commonly exposed with low water levels in summer. Deeper running waters of the lowlands support larger plants while masses of dwarfed plants occur in some natural or man-made waters.

General Notes
Appears to be the hardiest member of the genus in Tasmania. Morphologically very diverse and has been found growing with all other named Isoetes species in Tasmania as well as with the uncommon aquatic fern Pilularia novae-hollandiae.
