Habitat Notes

Common and widespread in highland tarns, natural lakes and rivers at a variety of elevations. Plants which occur in rocky or gravelly substrate in flowing water or shallow margins of lakes may form clumps only a few centimetres in height. At greater depths, in mud, leaves may reach 38cm.

General Notes

Plants can be transplanted fairly readily and will grow in a submerged pot of soil topped with gravel. Can be grown as an aquarium plant in cold water. Propagation techniques are unknown.
