Habitat Notes

Uncommon, occurs in scattered locations on the Central Plateau, eastern highlands and in the Midlands. Grows as a semi-aquatic of damp soils amongst grasses in waterlogged pastures and waterways of the Midlands. Also occurs on the seasonally inundated shores of lakes and lagoons.

General Notes

Top growth desiccates when soil substrate dries out and re-shoots as water rises. Distinguished from other members of the species by its habitat, spreading habit and excessively swollen leaf bases and deciduous nature. Can be grown as a perennial in a container of sand covered with water.
