Form Description: Small shrub of mallee habit. Leaves: Juvenile and adult leaves are very similar. Very small (2.5mm long), round to ovate with a small point on the apex, sessile to shortly petiolate, green, glossy and leathery. Bark: Smooth and streaked grey, green and orange when new.

Flowers: Sometimes solitary, or in umbels of 3.

Fruit: Woody capsules – cup-shaped, green to brown, with a sunken disc.

Restricted to the south-western part of the State. Almost exclusively a plant of mountains and ridges, often in peaty soils.

General Notes

Plants may grow much taller in the garden than in their natural habitat, but the height is easily controlled by careful tip pruning. Makes an excellent rockery specimen shrub.

Seed Information

Seed Collection

Collect capsules and store in paper bags until valves open to release seed. Separate seed by sieving.

Seed Treatment Method

Standard Scatter seed thinly on to damp potting mix. Hold seed in place by covering with more potting mix to approximately the depth of the seed size.

10 years dry stored in refrigerator at 4°C

Suitable for direct seeding. Otherwise 4-6 weeks stratification may improve germination. 6-8 weeks to pricking out.
