Forms forests and woodlands around the margins of swampy flats with a typical understorey of tussock grassland. Most abundant on the lower parts of the Central Plateau. Grows in grassy frost hollows in woodlands and open forests.

Seed Collection

Collect capsules and store in paper bags until valves open to release seed.

Seed Treatment Method

Standard Scatter seed thinly on to damp potting mix. Hold seed in place by covering with more potting mix to approximately the depth of the seed size.

10 years dry stored in refrigerator at 4°C

May require germination temperature at approximately 15°C and no higher. 6-8 weeks to pricking out.
