Form Description: Small open widely-branched tree, or tall untidy shrub. Leaves: Juvenile – fused across the base, very glaucous, and always present on the tree. Adult – lanceolate, very glaucous but rare. Bark: Smooth, glaucous on small stems with circular leaf scars but streaked light/dark grey on larger trunks.

Height (m): 3 – 8

Flowers: Umbels with 5-15 small stalked cream flowers. Flowers irregularly, commonly in axils of juvenile leaves.

Fruit: Woody capsules – cup-shaped, top level, 6-10mm long by 6-9mm wide with a white-ish bloom.

General Notes

An ornamental small tree despite its usually informal or untidy appearance. Attractive silvery juvenile foliage is long persistent and is maintained by regular lopping as the tree matures.

Collect capsules and store in paper bags until valves open to release seed.

Seed Treatment Method

Standard Scatter seed thinly on to damp potting mix. Hold seed in place by covering with more potting mix to approximately the depth of the seed size.
