Fruit: Red berry-like fruit, soft when ripe containing one black, shiny seed.

Dry places, including forests and woodlands, especially near the coast.
General Notes
Very hardy in most situations, and tolerates very dry conditions. Thrives in well-drained soil.

Seed is released within 3-14 days of maturity. The flesh can be left on the seed but it should be dried thoroughly soon after collection to avoid growing mould. Seed germinates quickly and has high viability.
