Occasional in dry places. Has been found mainly along the eastern shores of the River Derwent between Bellerive and Bridgewater.

When seed is mature achenes loosen in centre of seed head which develops a fluffy appearance. Collect entire heads into paper bags and dry. Extract by rubbing heads against fine wire screens or by hand.
