Form Description: Rosette herb, base leaves on long stems with thick, almost succulent blades, purplish underneath with toothed lobes.

Flowers: White, open, to 3cm diameter at end of stem. Centre crowded with yellow stamens and immature seeds.

Fruit: A cluster of achenes, without hairs and with persistent style 3-4mm long and hooked at the end.

Habitat Notes

Local at altitudes of about 1200m on mountains towards the west coast. Found in alpine heaths and sedgeland.

General Notes

Australia’s only Anemone. In cultivation requires moist, well drained, peaty acid soils with partial sun. May tolerate full sun in milder climates. Best planted amongst logs and rocks or as a container plant.
